Marvellous Maths

Today we had a great time with Room 3. We were working together to make necklaces. Our necklaces had to have a repeated pattern. The look really cool.

Can you tell me the repeating pattern you see on Sophie and Samuel's necklaces?

Humpty Dumpty Fell Off The Wall.

Here are some clips of our Humpty Dumpty Protectors in action. Do you think our Humpty's survived?

Why Has Mekhro's egg got a band aid on it ?

Can you think of something that would make a great Humpty protector?

Humpty Dumpty Protectors.

As part of our Nursery Rhyme Mash Up we had to work in teams to create a protector for Humpty Dumpty. We had to design something that would save Humpty Dumpty from cracking when he fell off the wall. Here are some photos of us hard at work.

Our next job is to test our Humpty Dumpty Protectors. We will use boiled eggs though just in case.

Watch this space !

Nursery Rhyme Mash Up.

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey,
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

Our poem this week is Little Miss Muffet. Room 5 and 6 got together to see if we could make some curds and whey. We put some milk into a bowl and then added vinegar and waited to see what would happen. Did it explode! Did it shrink? Dit it disappear? What did it do?
Here are some photos - can you tell by peoples faces if they liked the curds and whey or not?

Do you think Kate and Caden liked the curds and whey?

Did James like the curds and whey?

Did Briar like the curds and whey?

What did the curds and whey taste like ? Was it like something else you have tried before?

St Johns Visit

We had a great time today when Max the paramedic came to visit us. He brought his ambulance!

What did you see inside the ambulance?

Why do the ambulances sirens make different noises?

Who are our junior paramedics?

Why do the paramedics wear hard hats when they go to an accident?

What was your favourite thing about our St Johns visit?

Comment on our blog - can you answer any of our questions?

Te Puna Quarry Park Trip.

We had an amazing time on our Te Puna Quarry Park trip. We enjoyed our walk through the bush and we saw some amazing pieces of art and some cool musical instruments.
A huge thanks to all the parents who helped us on the day.

Beautiful Butterflies - we saw so many butterflies. The butterflies seemed really happy with their home at Te Puna. Did you know that monarch butterflies only live for approximately 2 weeks.

We saw all these shoes tied onto this bridge. Where do you think all these shoes came from? Maybe there is a giant centipede who lives at the park and he is getting rid of all his old shoes. Where do you think the shoes have come from?

Slime

As part of our writing experience we made slime. We had to think of adjectives that could describe our noun slime.
What adjectives can you use to describe our slime? Remember what it looked like, felt like and smelt like.

Popcorn Party.

Unpack your adjectives.

Today in Room 6 we had a popcorn party. We were learning about what a noun is and what an
adjective is.
We used adjectives to describe our noun popcorn. We talked about what we saw, heard and smelt when we were making popcorn. Can you think of any other adjectives that could describe popcorn?

Remember what a noun is -  a PERSON, PLACE OR THING.

Tell me some nouns that you have in your house.
